A change of direction for Alexander Millar again here, as he displays his softer thematic side, capturing a beautiful scene of swans feeding in a local lake.
I imagine the mills and workshops could be off the picture to the right, this little slice of England provides respite to those that stop and gaze into the lake, their problems forgotten for a...
...short while. In fact, if you look closely, the lake actually back onto an outside workshop, only this time its early morning or late evening and the Gadgies have gone home.
The houses are quaint and homely and for the first time Alexander has painted them with a bright white colour, perhaps he is becoming more upbeat in his depictions of bygone Northern working life?
