Having specialised in landscapes and seascapes for some years, he decided to switch to modern art pieces, self-described as the ongoing 'Flood' collection, and featuring a sole astronaut (in a dated space suit) exploring the vastness of a flooded and seemingly deserted earth!
****A short video showcase of Andreas's 'FLOOD' painting series:
Usually assisted with some inflatable, a comically inspired giant flamingo rubber-ring or giant crocodile, he will float around on missions of discovery for the now vanished humans - sometimes finding interesting artefacts!
Andreas is able to capture layered mood and meaning within his paintings. While poking fun at conspiracy theories and warnings of global catastrophes, which seem to be the media’s current narrative, he is able to lighten your perspective (visually and metaphorically) and reminds you of the intrinsic goodness & hope latent within all human beings.
The artist comments:
“I hope my paintings bring a smile to people in these difficult times and a feeling of ‘we can make that!’ or ‘we will survive this!’ at least,”
In 2020, he released a best-selling hard back artbook of the same name, 'Flood,' in his home country. He now lives and works in Germany and is well established there; he has also been featured in various appearances & art fairs across Europe, North America and as far off as South Korea, such is the broad appeal for his captivating paintings.
He is already booked to be a part of two exhibitions for 2024, as of the 1st of January they are:
- 12th February until April - Group exhibition: ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ - gallery inside the Grand Elysée Hotel, Hamburg, Germany
- 22nd March until April - Group exhibition: ‘30. Anniversary’ - Principle Gallery, Alexandria (Virginia), USA
His formal art education lasted 3 years, all within California and he began it with a 2 year course in 2015 ‘Figure Drawing and Painting’ at Watts Atelier of the Arts, San Diego (under Jeffrey R. Watts) and was bookended in 2017, with an ‘Artistic Composition’ course at New Master Academy, Los Angeles (under Steve Huston). Andreas has trained with art teachers at some of the very highest levels.
