Arthur is an English artist specialising in 'Original oil paintings.' This specific style of art peaked in British art galleries in the 1980s, before signed limited edition prints began to rise in prominence and become the popular purchase for art buyers.

Arthur Lokie was born in 1948 & appears to prefer oil, acrylic & also gouache as his painting mediums.

He has been a prolific painter over the years, specialising like many of his contemporaries in the English countryside, farmyard scenes & farm animals. Similar artists that come to mind are Dick Sturgeon & Alan Ingham.

Recently I have discovered paintings showing that his range extends to ornithology (Highland Grouse), shooting scenes (man and his gun dogs) and one of my favourites, which is an English farmhouse after fresh snow have fallen - these will be added to our website for reference.

Lokie seemed to have create the majority of his paintings in the 1970s & 80s, as his popularity soared. Nowadays, in 2021, his original paintings are true collector's items. Arthur's work continues to have strong final values at auction houses around the UK.
