With rain being very much a large feature in Barker's work, this canvas is no exception. The unique merges and smudges in colour makes another appearance, and is made more the realistic with the reflective tones highlighted on the cobbles beneath the children's feet.
Barker himself, growing up, chose to see the colour and beauty that lay within the darkened polluted areas of his hometown, and it is portrayed with the little specs of colour that emerges from children's clothing. Perhaps this too, represents his own memories, with glimpses of colour in what is otherwise known as a dull and grey town.
A Compelling addition for Bob Barker's series!
