Gorgeous colours and an enticing glow is certainly an element of this painting that invites the viewer to take a closer look! As the darkened figure passes the street gas lamps, they radiate a magnificent glow and shine this onto the cobbled streets in which lay beneath his feet.

You can see the brilliant contrast between the sky, which makes way for night time, to that of the ground which is painted using brilliant oranges and brown undertones. Immediately this makes you think of finally heading home after a long day working and sighing a breath of relief when you finally reach your place of sanctuary. This brings about the outdoors inside from the comfort of your home and really is a fantastic way to end this series of works. Well Done Barker!
