The first thing you can notice about this image is how the balloons feature as the only vibrant and bold colour within the pictorial space this allows for a fantastic focal point of the image and shows the pure delight the child experiences when carrying the objects down the street.

I love the way in which the cobbles are also painted, Barker allows them to look almost photo realistic, adding an element of shine and reflection. This is really a wonderful piece for this particular series of work.
