Black Udder And Bulldrick by Caroline Shotton

As soon as I saw this new limited edition piece I instantly thought of the Blackadder Goes Forth TV series and Blackadder's comment to Baldrick:

'Baldrick, you have all the artistic capabilities of a cluster of color-blind hedgehogs. In a bag.'

Indeed, in this giclee on canvas piece, we see the familiar guises of the two lead characters: Blackadder aloof and pompous, with his sidekick Baldrick looking lovingly towards his master.

I chuckled at this painting for ages when I saw it - this is a must have piece of art.

This is the fourth piece in the special, larger sized canvases, with a run of just 50 in the limited edition series.

Black Udder And Bulldrick is of course Caroline Shotton's pun on Blackadder and Baldrick, the two lead characters from the famous BBC Television series 'Blackadder.'

The artwork itself is very rich and layered in its composition. The clothing looks highly detailed and accurate for the period, it even looks textured and weighty.

The brown background of the painting suits the mood of the picture and the frame lends itself to the 'mock' period of British History the artwork is depicting. Caroline Shotton this is superb, well done!
