An artwork: 'Remembrance - Original Commission,' has been painted (for a customer) in 2024 using elements of 'Flanders Fields' but made into a Royal Navy theme!
New for 2nd of October 2019 the limited edition: 'Flanders Fields' box canvas has been released, a beautiful new print & Caroline's tribute to both those that lost their lives defending our freedom in World War I and also to those armed forces protecting us today.
I love how the giant poppy presents warm red colours to the canvas, bringing with it a message of peace and hope.
A donation will be made each time this print was originally purchased to a veteran's charity.
I would like to request Caroline when you do another army themed release, you use a camouflage green background colour, like that on 2010's hugely popular 'Sh-t Happens' limited edition - thanks in advance! hehe
This 'original study' and its 3 sister pieces, are smaller originals Caroline created, in addition to the original painting itself for Remembrance Day 2019.
I know that Shotton sometimes creates original sketches in pencil and I imagine she would either use those to separately create the individual (full colour) original studies or she would simple overpaint the pencil sketches – essentially using them as a guide for her steady hand & paint brush!
Once these studies are finished, she would begin work on the main original (used of course to produce the limited edition print 'Flanders Fields'), having decided which is her favourite 'idea' from her artwork so far.
I think its jolly interesting how on this occasion we get five different perspectives into Caroline's artistic mind, how she interplays her humorous cows with the more sombre theme of remembrance and those brave men and women who fought for our freedom.
Poppies continue to be a popular theme for artists of all genres!
A stunning and memorable new original by Caroline. A classic ‘Shotton’ Cow face and body, donning an old metal army helmet and placed in 'Flanders Field' setting.
Read the emotion into the cow's face, poignant and reflective as she walks amongst the poppies and a giant one appears in the sky, illuminating her walk with healing energy at the sorrow of those that gave their lives.
Caroline personally supports the UKs 999 Services, as we saw from her recent 'Emoogency Services,'collection and she also a staunch believer in our army and her veterans
£500 will be donated on the sale of this original to a veterans charity, well done Caroline, we salute you!
