Study Of The Moo by Caroline Shotton

In this series, Caroline Shotton combines the perfect balance between humour and tradition.

The traditional aspect of this piece is the fact that she draws upon the extremely famous expressionist art work titled 'The Scream' by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch.

The humour is created through Shotton's replacement of the original distressed and rather haunting screaming figure with one of her famous mooing cows.

Every time I see this I can't help but picture Macaulay Culkin in the first Home Alone film, when he realises his parents have gone on holiday and left him in the house alone over Christmas.

A classic cow image, this is clean and fresh with the use of white & grey tones, it is actually rather enchanting and not at all scary. The cow is probably thinking, 'oh no ive left the milk out,' it's going to spoil!
