"Churchill has become something of a controversial figure in recent years. As such, I built this portrait out of sheet music that could be interpreted in two ways – taken literally, or ironically. The pink sequined glasses were inspired by Dame Edna Everage, who is Churchill’s opposite in so many ways; however, both figures are a performance at their heart. ‘Dame Churchill’ is, therefore, equal parts celebration and criticism". - Chess
