In itself, ‘Pool Party’ is a fantastic ‘get ready for summer’ limited edition canvas. The people either: stand either side of the pools, are navigating across, are under sun umbrellas or lazing on rubber rings, by the crisp azure blue water!

But look a little closer, and Craig appears to have upgraded those traditional posters you saw at school in the maths department.

Do you remember similar mind bending illusions? such as the people walking, seemingly perpetually, around a tower with stairs. That famous image is called ‘Ascending and Descending’ by M.C. Escher and you might be tickled to know that was first released as a lithographic print in 1960!!!

How wonderful that Craig has painted a tribute to famous optical illusions, Escher's works of course based on the 'impossible object' by Oscar Reutersvärd and the ‘Penrose Stairs’/ 'Impossible Staircase’ by Lionel & Roger Penrose.

Craig has his own message, that we are all connected in this vast world, with all its twists and turns & seemingly impossible problems, there is always a way back to our humanity & care for one another.
