Turtle Power by Craig Davison

I get the distinct impression that Craig Davison is a big kid at heart and is inspired by cartoons and film both from his childhood & also those that made it to TV after he was a grown up! Such as the first 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' cartoon.

I was impressed after 'googling' the cartoon that it ran for a whopping 9 years 1987-1996 and therefore its impact on children and popular culture will continue to be immense, spawning 2 further cartoon series, a live action TV show and various appearance on the silver screen.

This all starts to make sense with the knowledge that Craig used to be a cartoon illustrator! In this limited the four children become the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael & Donatello! The question is do you know which is which?

They may be devoid of their half-shells and fixed stares but nevertheless these four (barely) 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' are ready to take on all comers...

...and fight the non-CGI good fight on behalf of the good and the decent, in Craig Davison's brand spanking new compositional release which sees the cold light of day this autumn.

'Turtle Power' is the celebrated contemporary figurative artist's illustrative homage to Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo (OMG! We - sadly - remembered their names without the help of Google!) and forms a key part of Davison's three-piece mini-series out now.

With typical Davison graphic gusto, the ever-popular artist envisages who the real-time stars of the canvas are seeing themselves as in their own mind's eye, hitting the nail, smack bang on the artistic head once again.
