Dean's originals, commissioned artwork and limited editions continue to be in demand during the Covid19 Crisis; May 2020's 'Quarantine Collection' remains very apt and The Mad Artist continues to make us think and ask the important, sometimes uncomfortable, questions about the information we are fed by the Main Stream Media (MSM), governments & indeed social media. - August 2020
We have launched the highly anticipated new Dean Martin - The Quarantine Collection, aptly titled for these Covid-19 and Lockdown times we are now in & moving out of. - 23rd May 2020
The series was painted for Dean's own private collection but Wishbone Art publishers deemed it commercially viable and 'edgy' enough to fit nicely into the modern art portfolio they supply to UK galleries; personally I find it both thought provoking and challenging of the current political & journalistic narrative we are fed.
Very apt again, that this collection has been released exactly two months after UK lockdown commenced on the 23rd March! The first 50 purchases worldwide will receive a free mounted copy of the exclusive limited edition 'Vaccine' aka 'It's For Your Own Good.' (while stocks lasts).
Please get in touch early if you want to order commissions or originals from Dean.
Dean's November releases are previewed just in time for Christmas, featuring a series of 16 new originals and a plethora of limited edition prints, including the highly anticipated french bulldog art: 'Pablo Escobark' lol. This was an amazing event at a gallery in East Yorkshire for Dean's first 'aritst appearance' in some years, with over 100 members of the public enthused and delighted to meet him and see his paintings in the flesh...
...with the artist adding to his Portfolio with New art featuring: Dogs and a more realistic takes on Peaky Blinders TV characters! - Saturday 9th November 2019
Watch Dean Martin aka The Mad Artist's appearance on RT News, 12th October 2019 on George Galloway's show 'Sputnik Orbiting The World' episode entitled: 'A quiet man and the mad artist (E301)' or listen on SoundCloud.
September 2019 saw the release of Dean's (The Mad Artist) first large Collection of artwork.
**Watch Dean on George Galloway's show 'Sputnik':
'The Mad Artist' is the pseudonym for the painter Dean Martin, who burst onto the published art scene in May 2019 after signing with Wishbone Fine Art Publishers in Essex.
Dean is in fact amongst a special group of artists, such as Steven Townsend and the late David Shepherd (both incidentally fantastic at depicting wildlife) who have received no formal art training and are completely self-taught, which is quite awe inspiring when you peruse Dean’s limited edition and painting portfolio.
He creates his art using a plethora of different mediums including: oils, watercolours and spray cans (air brush) and lately using acrylics - which means he fits nicely into Wishbones eclectic portfolio; their founding artist JJ Adams also loves to experiment with various mediums and typically always uses the humble spray can on his canvas!
Although Dean preferred to use trial and error to develop and painting remained an enjoyable hobby for him, it actually meant he never had the confidence to go professional nor to get his work ‘out there’ to a wider art audience.

He had concentrated on pop-art inspired portraiture since 2015 and last year made a series of originals based on London Gangsters and one caught the gaze of Mrs Richardson - wife of the late London gangster Ronnie Richardson. Mrs Richardson decided to help Dean by putting on an exhibition and a lot of work & press was generated from that event and he remains eternally grateful for the springboard.
Not surprising then his The Mad Artist - Debut Collection of limited edition prints & originals, launched in May 2019, featured monkeys and sloth's in human like poses with guns! A subtle nod to many a gangster movie such as 'Scarface' and 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and the current 'Peaky Blinders' TV series with the limited edition 'Peaky Primate.'
I wonder if Dean's fascination with the London underworld meant his mishmash of wildlife and guns was a natural fit for him? ultimately combining his interest areas with a passion for surrealist art.
Later in 2019 The Mad Artist launched a collection of Erotica Originals and the feedback from the public has been phenomenal.
