Notice the large sized heads and the chunky feet of the human character dressed in blue?
This is typical of Doug's early painting style, where there original painting would be created on a large art canvas (much larger size than the limited edition print) using coloured charcoals and his hands to get these beautiful soft effects.
The bright light green, the rich reds and mahogany browns colour of the dogs coat work wonderfully together, which just a touch of blue to demonstrate the clothes on the man.
