Well, it had to happen didn’t it! Doug Hyde finally gives a very deliberate nod to Banksy, with his human character letting go of a red heart-shaped balloon.
This reminds me of Doug's 2009 balloon themed limited edition release: 'Catch My Heart.'
But notice this is more impressionistic than the other releases in this Spring 2023 series (a Banksy feel to the artwork?), with Doug’s brush strokes visible on the background and the character appears black & white and created using charcoals - we haven’t seen that in a while!
Incidentally, all of Doug's early paintings where oversized and created with charcoals! how fitting as we approach the 20th anniversary of his very first limited edition release.
