Sharing Is Caring by Doug Hyde

A beautiful matching sculpture was released at the same time, as well as a sister print & sculpture called 'Hedge Hugs.'

Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is Doug’s first limited release since the ‘Share The Love - Collection’ (Sep 2020) to feature a hedgehog. The limited edition print Token Of Love' (from that collection) is the last time we saw Doug's Hedgehog character with a lush large strawberry - but this time he is happy to share!

There is something special about the simplicity of Doug's black and white images (they look pencil sketched, although I am sure they are done with pastels), stripping back the complexity and allowing Doug to create more nuanced details in each artwork.

Of course, once imbued with colour such as this pillar-box red paint, the picture has the added bonus of a tasty strawberry just waiting to be shared with the mouse! This is the merging of Doug’s two painting styles we have grown to love & adore!

Welcome back to these two little guys, introduced way back in 2014 within the ‘Doug Hyde - Rural Return collection’ and where the artist took a liking to more wildlife and nature based images - when Doug & his family moved to a small farmstead in real life!

He is really pulling on our heart strings here, featuring the two heroes in the undergrowth and strawberry picking, so we have explosions of delightful colour!

How cute are their little button noses & their perfectly innocent gazes, awwww!

Released at the same time as the sister sculpture ‘Hedge Hugs - Sculpture,’ something tells me this will be a very sort after limited edition sculpture.
