The Smile by Doug Hyde

One of very earliest 'Doug Hyde Bronze - Collection' releases, there was some debate about the sculpture's correct name as so much time has passed!

In some circles it was called 'The Big Smile' and in others simply 'The Smile,' it reappeared again in 2018 in mini form, as part of the 'The Box Of Love - Box Set' - a real treasure chest of Doug Hyde collectables!

Other earlier releases in this style include 'Boys Will Be Boys' and 'Pretty In Pink,' but to be honest all three are super rare now!

With an exaggerated head and a smile to match, the whiteness of the character really stands out against the black background.

This is a simple yet effective image and portrays a much loved character and Hyde's imagination at his cheekiest.

With an overly large grin, the sweetness of his nature is exposed to the viewer and these head & torso only images have proved hugely popular among collectors!
