Duncan MacGregor remains the master of this nautical art genre, if I can take the liberty of calling it such.
This series of three paintings, represent the second time Duncan has produced black and white limited edition images, since spring 2010's: 'Ocean Day' & 'Ocean Night' and is a welcome return for the many followers of his artwork.
There is a simplicity to black and white artwork, that can only be found with such colours.
This piece, Starlit Sails I, has the striking addition of a dash of red on the boat's bow, as the ship sits gracefully on a very calm sea, the white sail almost appears like a shard of light descended from the heavens on the painting.
Duncan MacGregor has painted another 'classic' image once again..
Duncan MacGregor's Starlit Sails II, is the sister piece to the newly released Starlit Sails I & as usual Duncan has painted the ship approaching from the other direction in this art on glass, limited edition piece.
The sea has a swirling effect on it, perhaps the boat has just turned in the water and has now gracefully changed direction, heading toward port
Again we see the addition of a very small amount of red paint here, perhaps they represent the crew? or some other nautical feature of the boat.
This artwork is engaging and I like the contrast of the greys against the stark white of the picture, it is simple and clean and yet draws the viewer in to this stunning artistic depiction of a Ship.
These hand embelished canvases are the perfect for such limited edition artwork and demonstrate Duncan MacGregor's artistic flare.
