‘Flamenca De Blanco’ is Fabian’s much anticipated return to painting the dance genre. In fact, this is his first dance themed canvas since the ‘Tango En San Telmo’ series (2018-19) & in terms of flamenco, this is the newest since his ‘Study For Celina With Abancio’ (2017) limited editions.
The title translates from the Spanish to ‘Flamenco In White’ & Fabian paints this enchanting image with a beautiful woman in mid dance flow, her dress swirling around the canvas & about to unleash her next step.
The artist has typically painted a dark black background and this time a brown floor, to heighten the emotional impact & centre your attention on the woman: her dress and light reflection on her face and body. I love the bold coloured depiction of her gold earrings and red hair flower.
All Fabian’s UK releases on canvas are hand finished and have an art gloss/ sheen placed on them, making them look ‘original’ in texture and finish, representing some of the best limited editions in today’s art market.
Hopefully he is not stepping on too many toes with this New release, as British artist Mark Spain (same publishing house as Perez) is another master of this dance genre, with much more of his canvases centring on dance. Perhaps they recently discussed ideas at an exhibition, over a coffee or a whisky!
