Olga Y Les Demoiselles by Fabian Perez

A special two-in-one treat from Fabian Perez with this new limited edition canvas: ‘Olga Y Les Demoiselles' (translated from Spanish to ‘Olga & the young ladies’), as he pays tribute to one of the 20th century's biggest artists!

Yes, it is Picasso and specifically his painting ‘Les Demoiselles d'Avignon’ (1907, ‘The young women of Avignon)’ and referencing Avignon Street, Barcelona, where prostitutes could often be found. Perez has of course painted his own mini version, in a picture above the lady's bed.

Perhaps the model Olga is portraying someone selling her body for money but nonetheless Fabian pays tribute to her femininity and admiration of the female form, as she reclines back on the bed & the sunlight illuminated the room.

A nice little touch is the cushion in the foreground covered with Picasso-esque shapes & images.
