Statuesque by Gary Benfield

Here is a fine example of Gary Benfield's equestrian artistry. Benfield makes this strong and muscular stallion the sole object of this wonderful piece, by keeping the background simple and neutral in colour.

However, despite the simple background, this artwork remains to be is packed full of energy and movement.

The composition of the Horse add to this sense of movement, as by having his head down and eyes forward, it suggests to the viewer that that horse is on the move at a rampaging speed.

The energy is formed in this piece through the swirling whimsical brushstrokes that make up the background.

It seems almost as if the speed of the horse is cutting through the air at such a speed, that it is soaring off of the sheen of this Stallions beautiful black coat.
