George Somerville shows his artistic flare once again with this new aluminium finish/colour sculpture 'Bark & Ride,' a pun on the UK transport scheme 'Park & Ride' - which made me chuckle.
This is a classic 'Gadgie' image of an old man on his bike, with his dog & yes that usually is depicted as a terrier!
The man is obviously late for something and the sculpture emphasizes this. I wonder what George Somerville's story is behind this? Has the man forgot to get the daily milk and butter and he must hurry before his wife gets home? I suspect he has actually forgot to put a bet on a big horse race and the bookies closes soon!
This sculpture is fun and fresh and makes a great addition to his limited sculpture range.
