Hamish Blakely made the transition from drawing to painting after producing a portrait painting of his father aged eighteen, and has never looked back. It was this portrait that confirmed not only his love of painting, but that he was good enough to make a career out of it; and so he did.
As reflected in this elegant and beautiful piece, Hamish Blakely's preferred subject is the body. As seen here, he creates stunning works concentrating on the anatomy; portraying glimpses of striking figures amidst a minimal amount of setting so as not to distract us away from the simplistic emotions of his works.
