Henderson Cisz remains one of the UK's most collectable landscape artists, his brilliant Cityscapes and vistas filling the living rooms of countless homes across Great Britain and beyond.
His style is impressionistic and has a ‘looking through a rain covered window’ effect to them, almost dreamlike in quality and although many have attempted to replicate his style of painting, Cisz remains the absolute master of the genre.
Cisz hails from Brazil and his hometown is near Maringa, the 3rd largest city in the country.
While a young man, Henderson left Brazil to go travelling & see the world and hasn’t stopped since, although London has been his home since the mid-1980s.
He is famous for painting London, Paris, New York, Amsterdam & Venice to name but a few of the vistas and is also equally known for his snow covered cityscapes, which the art buying public have a particular fondness for!
Henderson has won many awards over the years, including the Fine Art Trade Guild's prestigious 'Artist Of The Year.'
The artist will travel to the cities & exact places he intends to paint and often likes to create his artwork live as much as possible, sketching with pencil or charcoal (sometimes even beginning the painting process if the weather allows) and will go on to fully finish the artwork in his studio.
Initially, Henderson was one of those ‘busking’ artists in London who brought out an easel, sketch pad & chair and would offer to paint passers-by’s portraits - much like those that still frequent Leicester Square in London today - before being scouted by Demontfort Fine Art publishers.
We are one of the fortunate galleries to have promoted and sold his work from the inception of that relationship, selling countless limited edition prints on paper and canvas, as well as books and original art to our customers.
In recent years Henderson tried his hand in the culinary world, running a restaurant for a few years – which is brilliant serendipity, as the artist has painted the café culture (such as those in Paris and Holland) for so long!
