The glisten of the rain beneath the lover's feet is a particular asset which draws me into the Rowland's canvas. I love that the rain is symbolic of that old time, tender, romantic atmosphere.
The fact that sky is clouded with downpours of rain, means that the exact time of day is hard to work out, meaning the couple could have already been on a date and could be saying their goodbyes, or they could be entering the gates embracing with their hellos.
Overall a very endearing and tenderly produced piece of art!
