My joint favourite (along with the print with the poppies) of the New Releases is 'Sunday Morning,' quite simply because it features John's bluebells and I adore the paint colour he chooses.
Some other 'classic' Waterhouse elements are here: with the redundant fence posts, farm gate, church spire in the distance and the sun ascending in the background.
Almost an angelic image when viewing the top half of the canvas, with the sun representing Christ's ascendancy and victory over death in the Resurrection story.
How fitting then that this is part of John's November collection and his official 2019 Christmas Releases and the title is 'Sunday Morning' (Easter Sunday being the day he rose again).
