‘Water's Edge’ is John's latest panoramic landscape featuring a figure going for a walk in the wetlands, enthused by the magic of morning mist & the guidance of wise old trees.
Four large trees appear to be in full bloom and I am sure this scene is spring or early summer in a beautiful woodland, somewhere in Great Britian.
The white of the mist almost imbues the landscape with an angelic feel and did you notice the circular sun rising just above the man and tree to his left? This almost feels like a scene taken from a bible passage and a miraculous appearance!
Perhaps John has a deeper meaning within this painting, of hope, healing and a reminder that every night of darkness is vanquished by the white light of daybreak.
