Jonathan Shaw remains one of the UK's most desirable modern landscape artists, now working only in the medium of originals.
As a child Jonathan always loved to paint and put in admiration of his father, a professional artist. He always felt he was destined to follow in his father's footsteps, but after leaving school found work in a variety of jobs, and finally, the search for a creative position as an interior designer. He knew that this was not the life for him however, and resigned from his job to go travel, the financing of their trip with the money raised through the sale of their work along the way.
The realization that he was able to sell his work so easily Jonathan filled with confidence and determination, and returned to his home to Yorkshire to open a gallery. Surrounded by works of art that he admired and to see the positive response of their customers encouraged him to paint some of his best work ever.
After six years in the gallery, Jonathan felt that the time had come to move forward and took the bold step to devote full time to painting. His new confidence led him to abandon his methodical style in favor of the more spontaneous "free" paint on canvas and cardboard. I found this new approach is stimulating and exciting, and has never looked back.
Jonathan predilection for the blue of the tropical seas, acquired in his travels, it is a great factor of inspiration in his work. He also loves the sky and the uniqueness of each change of cloud formations, and is constantly surprised by the differences in the landscape caused by the passage of time throughout the day.
In 1999, Jonathan was elected as a member of the British Society of Painters and Artists Guild. Her work is found in private collections and galleries throughout the UK, Europe and USA.
