'Party Time' is a limited edition released at the same time as its sister piece 'Double Trouble' - Autumn 2012. This is a more of a sepia or rather monotone coloured limited edition by Keith Proctor, a departure from his normal coloured oil. She appears to be throwing bouncing balls or marbles into the air and these are to the foreground of the artwork.
I like that it is a highly detailed and stylised portrayal of a young girl, painted on a simplistic grey background - a wonderful, artistic, juxtaposition.
The use of shadow, as well as light and dark tones of grey and white on her dress, create the sense of movement as this girl throws the marbles. There is more attention to detail on her socks, her hat & even her shoes, can you see the reflection painted on? I think her hand gestures are realistic and often they say artists struggle with hands.
'Party Time' is a strong addition to the Keith Proctor giclee on paper, limited edition range.
