Faerie Forest by Kerry Darlington

When looking at this bright and beautiful piece, you can easily feel absorbed by this enchanting forest full of faeries.

This limited edition is full of texture due to the fairies and leaves being raised from the tree trunk in the background; ultimately bringing this stunning original piece to life. Darlington creates this texture in a very unique way.

Kerry uses a primer called gesso, which originally looks like paint, but when dry, creates a hard plastic looking glaze. In this piece, Darlington has layered the gesso to create the raised fairies and leaves in this piece.

This unique material also helps create the extremely vivid colours in her works, as it prevents the paint from soaking into the canvas. Instead it sticks to the gesso, maintaining the brightness of the paints used.
