Here, artist Lawrence Coulson portrays his wonderful take on the subject of the 'Romantic landscape'; a genre of painting that became extremely popular throughout Europe and the United States during the 18th and 19th centuries.
These paintings would aim to accentuate the splendour of nature during the rising age of the machine. In such works of art human life certainly wasn't the focus, but would often be portrayed on a miniscule scale to accentuate of grandeur nature. Lawrence Coulson echoes this technique, as what we can barely see amongst the cloak of this majestic forest is a tender embrace shared by a couple in love.
