What Coulson does so brilliantly, is evoke feelings of the places he paints from the viewer, he simply isn't one of those artists that allow you to look at a pretty picture and be done with it.
He lets the colour palette and movements of his paint brush take time to sink in whilst viewing, and evoke a reaction or emotion from the spectator, which is why we are certainly amongst his biggest fans!
