Leanne Christie

Leanne Christie is known as an 'Impasto Flower Artist' as she favours the technique when painting her floral masterpieces. Paint is placed on the canvas thicky, so that a knife or brush stroke become visible on the surface, illuminating the painting with textured paint build up once dry!

Based in Devon, she uses her own special 'oil embellishment' techniques on her ‘floralscapes’ (portmanteau of floral and landscape) and with a unique vibrant colour palette, her art continues to stand out on gallery walls & in homes throughout the UK.

Her paintings of English country gardens & wild meadows are both exciting and engaging. These places will change through the seasons, with nature always drawn towards the sunlight & Leanne’s work aims to capture this, which changing light formation, reflection & sun sets, depending on the time of year.

Originally from Warwick, Leanne has been painting she was a child and professional for two decades. She states:

"Painting has always been an integral part of my life. My mum is an amazing artist and would actually make a good forger. I grew up surrounded by all her art stuff."

So, in some ways it is no surprise she is artist, having a plethora of childhood memories of her artist mum drawing or painting in her own studio at home. Art and design where important to Leanne & the family, as where seeing scores of pots, brushes, as well as constant smells of paint and turps!

She also embellishes with glitter, metal leaf and jewels and thus her originals have a very 3D feel to them, whether floral, landscape or whatever she chooses to capture. She emphasises that her depiction of light plays a key ‘magical’ aspect in the creation of her engaging artwork & of course this can vary from the time of year and the time of day she is painting.
