The returning theme of Leigh's first bronze is a father returning home from work to greet his children and in this case his son. I wonder, does this remind you on our own childhood experiences? or current ones as an adult? pulling on your heartstrings either way!
This bronze makes me think of two of his limited edition prints:
‘Driving Home For Christmas’ (2023) - To me this could be the scene right before, with Dad pulling up in the car and the family’s excitement at a crescendo.
‘I'm All Yours Now Son' (2021) -This instantly reminds me of the bronze, with the loving embrace, backpack and football all recreated carefully in the sculpture. Perhaps this is the artwork Leigh had in mind when creating the foundry bronze?
