Louise discovered her talent for art and design at school, where she majored in printing. Having completed an art foundation course at the famous Portsmouth School of Art, she embarked on a four-year degree in production design and media at the London College of Printing.
After her graduation in 1991, she spent several months traveling around Central America, which would have a great influence on her artwork & her use of distinctive colours and shapes.
Returning from her travels, Louise settled into a career in graphic design in London. Although her creative talent was very effective in the business world, she was keen to become a designer and artist in her own right. She spent her free time illustrating greeting cards she would sell successfully through a number of outlets, including London’s Harvey Nichols.
She would also undertake a series of commissioned art from card companies at Christmas time. Finally, in May 1997, she moved to Hampshire and decided to go it alone as a full-time professional artist.
Over the years, Louise has developed a style of painting that is unique and instantly recognisable. She feels her quirky figurative oils are most impactful when painted onto canvas board, and always depict bustling scenes full of energy and movement!
