From Moor To Coast by Mackenzie Thorpe

Mackenzie has always had an affinity with the land and indeed the Yorkshire Moors, unsurprising then that he has had own gallery in Richmond North Yorkshire for over 30 years.

We have been gifted spectacular limited editions of Mackenzie’s famous Shepherd character and flock over the years and I wonder if the artist’s sees himself as some sort of shepherd, and us his sheep?

Some of my favourites from these series are ‘First Light’ (circa 1999) and the more recent ‘Morning Snow’ (2017) & ‘Richmond Dawn’ (circa 2020).

Powerful, enigmatic, with dramatic landscapes, sweeping vistas and intensely coloured skies or snow blizzards, these editions bring us closer to the artistic mind of one of the UK’s most collected artists.
