I see this very much as the sister piece to the limited edition: 'Sweet Memories'
'Gone Fishing' is of course the first picture and shows Dad (or Grandad) going fishing with the lad, sitting up a tree and casting their rods into the water.
I am not sure in this contemporary edition, with minimal background, if Mackenzie has painted the red fish caught on the line or simply approaching the bate?!
The hooded little character is (as always) Mackenzie painting himself as a young boy, filled with the innocence and wonder of youth.
I really like this modern limited edition, even the tree, possibly half fallen in storm, has a certain charm and is one of the characters in this nostalgic limited edition.
