Like most artists, Abrams couldn't wait until his favourite subject had come around and relished in painting and drawing. This even extended to Abrams prepping the class making sure that full equipment was set up prior to the lesson beginning to that every minute of the class he could concentrate fully on his activities rather than waiting on himself and his peers to get the necessary materials needed.
When Abrams moved to his comprehensive school, (Leeds), art wasn't a subject in which was strongly recognized nor encouraged and this factor contributed to the failing of not getting an art place in art collage during the time Abrams left school in 1978.
To support himself the next ten year period saw Abrams work as a fork lift driver but worked freelance designing cards for huge publishing companies. In 1990 the artist decided to go full time and had the view of not wasting any opportunities when it came to him artistic career.
Abrams is a completely self taught artist and is now in his twentieth year of professional art and has worked in Thailand designing figurines and ceramic as well as exhibiting his work in New York.
It was in 2010 that the artist became a part of Washington Green showing his selection of quirky and innovative animal paintings. Going for a certain look that the artist feels an owner can look at and connect with their own pets is something that inspires the artist to continually create these particular animal characters.
Artists of huge inspiration to Abrams are the style and cartoon depictions of Terry Gillam, Ralph Steadman as well as Hockney, Picasso and Beatrix Potter, quite a diverse range!
