It is winter, and snow falls all around London & the Palace Of Westminster, in this magical scene viewed from The Embankment.
Instead of Neil's early trademark cuboid shapes, he cleverly weaves spherical ones into this new canvas, as falling snow and electric light bulbs are depicted as white circles, mixed in and out of focus - even the clocks of Big Ben are painted this way!
This is a beautiful Christmas image and reveals the charm and wonder of the great City Of London; on the left you see part of the Millennium Wheel (aka London Eye) & the large Dolphin lamp standards illuminate your view. The whole seen however, appears to be a straight out of Dickensian times, such is Neil’s clever impressionism.
Notice the snow on the tree branches to the left & houses to the right? and even the railings have the gentlest of white patinas. The gold of the Houses Of Parliament are like a warm fireplace and the ever present seat of power!
A fantastic winter warmer, thank you Neil.
