Editions of just 20 copies (so remarkably exclusive), he has been able to really go to town with the hand finishing process: with lots of ‘dripping’ paint & embellishments added and once complete a beautiful ‘textured’ gloss has been applied to the canvas. The results are limited editions that closely mirror his wonderful original paintings.
I absolutely adore 'The Big Apple’s’ painting of New York City, and Nigel really makes use of the primary colours; Bright blues for the mid-sky, juxtaposed with the Yellows on the taxi cabs canvas and the Reds of the truck and shop signs.
The trees and the cross walk (zebra crossing to us Brits!) allow Nigel to use an exceptionally vibrant and mixed colour palette. The result is a fresh take on one of the world’s most famous cities, but also giving it a dreamlike surrealism, as in real life we certainly don’t always see such a beautiful mix of colours!
