Spirit Of The Elms by Nigel Hemming

It's summer 2014 & In light of spring's new 'In Flight' series of limited edition canvas by Nigel, I had a look round our archive and found a couple of copies the print: 'Spirit Of The Elms.'

Painted & produced I think in the 1990s (perhaps earlier) while Nigel was under contract with Washington Green Fine Art publishers in the UK, he occasionally released wildlife images such as this (and the limited edition 'Kingfisher' also springs to mind) - along with his regular dog art limited editions.

Starting out in his early art career, Hemming saw himself as an ornithological artist. Once he was 'signed' by a publisher in the 1980s Nigel's bird originals would have been sold through the Halcyon gallery and then through Washington Green account galleries and so there would have been a strong following for this type of original & prints, as his popularity as a dog artist gained momentum later, in the 1990s.

This is a classic image of a barn owl, fittingly also 'In Flight' and perhaps about to swoop down. A rare chance to own a signed limited edition we have never previously had for sale on our site and one that may be now coming up to 20 years old.
