Oshe recently unveiled the: 'Oshe - Pop Collection 2024' and it showcases amazing & bright coloured cityscape art but with a twist! That could be using completely unexpected colours for building & vistas or much more dulcet colourways. As usual Oshe chooses not to show motion in his paintings but is able to create both excitement and sereness in these famous cityscape landmarks.
The six limited editions come in two versions, standard paper or deluxe canvas (heavily hand finished & larger) editions entitled:
- 'Cathedral Of Power' - Battersea Power Station, London
- 'Electric Dreams NYC' - Times Square
- 'Empire Heights NYC' - The Empire State Building
- 'Eternal Dawn' - Saint Peter's Basilica Church & Sant'Angelo bridge, Rome
- 'Parisian Nights' - The Eiffel Tower, Paris
- 'St. Paul's To The City' - St Pauls Cathedral, London
‘Oshe,’ aka ‘Oshe POP!’ is the handle of artist Stu Watkin & we warmly welcome him to our portfolio. His art style was born, or at least heavily influenced, by a poster of the iconic Liverpool Overhead Railway (demolished 1958) which hung on the wall of his childhood home & was something he would glance at daily.
The busyness of the environment, the dirt & sounds Oshe felt where superseded by the poster’s vibrant colours and the positive emotion of feeling he was actually ‘there.’
His artistic approach also mirrors his naturalistic view of life, reducing complexity wherever possible, keeping to a limited colour palette and removing background scenery, leaving more focus to enjoy perceptions of form within his artwork.
Oshe describes his art as: ‘Simplified, tranquil & balanced.’
The digital artist manages to combine modern technology with traditional art, with superb results of course. Take a look at his debut national series: the ‘Oshe Limited Edition Collection’ (October 2023), eight limited editions of seven iconic cities entitled:
- 'Palace Pier,' Brighton
- 'Manhattan Island,' NYC
- 'The Bellow Tower,' Cirencester
- 'View From Southbank,' London
- 'The Mathematical Bridge,' Cambridge
- 'Parisian Spring,' Paris
- 'High Level Bridge,' Newcastle
- 'Tyne Bridge,' Newcastle
Through this artistic brief he is able to reduce and simplify the paint palette, enabling focus of the subject matter and a sense of balance to each picture. Blazen over his social media is one of Oshe’s favourite quotes from philosopher & transcendentalist Henry Thoreau:
'As you simplify your life. The laws of the universe will be simpler’
