Water plays a huge role in his works and this is where the reflective tones of the pavements line the streets creating a glossy and slick feel. Water if often referred to and this dates back to his early childhood memories with his father when visiting quayside in Newcastle.
Using watercolour and his favoured medium, Rodgers is then able to have freedom to explore and really create the wet rainy look which has been intended. Instead of using them lose and with fluidity he creates bold and vibrant colours to make a clear stand within his pictorial space and this is something in which is celebrated among many of his collectors. The main element of the piece in which he hopes to best capture is the feel and atmosphere of the scene he paints and using water colours adheres to his brilliantly.
