On The Home Stretch by Rebecca Lardner

Connecting to her previous image, 'On the Home Stretch' is a great addition to this particular series, and distorts the seaside town houses by curving them down the hill.

By allowing a bended perspective to take place with the town houses, allows the image to twist and wind and almost appears like the houses will fall into the sea at any given moment.

Rebecca Lardner brilliantly allows a sense of movement to take over her image, so much so it feels as though the notion of the sea come out towards us as the viewer.

Rebecca Lardner: 'On The Home Stretch,' is a box canvas one can easily become fascinated by. Clearly the title means the fishermen of this quaint little village have enjoyed their long day at sea and are now returning home for their well deserved supper.

In the painting we can clearly see on the right hand side, many families waiting patiently to greet their loved ones; while on the left hand side of the artwork, people are continuing to use their fishing rods for their own catches, as evening begins to draw in.
