The use of light certainly refers to the image's title, giving us glimpses into the subject's world. The artificial lighting really sets the scene creating an 'Intimate' experience for the viewer. There is a tender and gentle essence to the image to, for example, notice the simple gestures of her touching her leg, whilst it's raised.
