You can see how the use of artificial light situates perfectly on the female's skin, thus reflecting a radiant glow; this is particularly referred to on the lower parts of her legs to the soles of her feet.

She appears to be deeply lost in thought and with this in mind, each viewer can delve into their own opinions and story behind her fixed gazed look.

The bedding and sheets look so real, it makes you almost want to grab out and feel their texture, inviting the viewer towards the board.

A great understanding for painting texture has allowed this image to work so successfully and places Hefferan as one of the best among his contemporaries.
