The Small Hours by Rob Hefferan

You would have noticed how this is the first time in his collection that the male figure stands alone and is the powerful force that captures the limited edition, Hand Embellished, Giclee. I love the drama and tension created through not only the composition, but also the lighting. It feels as though we are almost watching a play and Hefferan has invited us to be seated at the front of his theatre.

Slumped in his chair, sitting with a stiff drink, lost in thought, what do you suppose the man is thinking? My guess is that his occupied thoughts are over a woman, most probably a lover. Tension is built up in not only the pose the man composes himself in, but also that fantastic use of colour throughout the pictorial space. This is a really well thought out piece to which certainly does credit to the artist genius that is Hefferan.
