Archer is currently one of the most new and innovative figurative artists to emerge from the UK. Born in Nottinghamshire, Archer showed promising signs of what was to become his profession as an artist from a very young age.
Although the artist works in such a way that he himself describes as self taught, arts education was a vital part of Archer's path leading him to the success in which he has achieved today. This started on Archer embarking on a foundation course in Art and Design at Clarendon College in Nottingham. Further education led him to complete a degree in Illustration where he obtained BA Honours at Falmouth College of Arts in Cornwall.
Now taking up permanent residency in Nottinghamshire, Archer continues to create contemporary figurative paintings, predominantly of nudes and female forms.
His work, although contemporary in style, remains traditional in subjects and is inspired by the works of John Singer Sargent and the dance and eloquent nature of Edgar Degas. Working in oils, Archer uses the paints in such a manner that allow an intensity and playful nature to be approached within his classical subject matters and this is why his work is a success within the contemporary art market today.
