‘Light And Shade’ happens to be the most recent Russell Flint limited edition as of June 2023 and is much more of a 'classic' Flint image in my mind.
This picture contains a pair of ladies and SWRF skilfully creates light & dark tonnes using brown and white paints and the backdrop shows his flair for impressionist brush strokes - even more remarkable is that it is the original was of course a watercolour!
It is further interesting that it contains two Russell Flint archetypal models: on the right is the sophisticatedly dressed women (similarly in 'Cecilia In April') and on the left, more of a pheasant girl in worn fabrics (style seen in 'Antoinette's Alley, Vaugelas').
Enjoy this latest release and the return to this more classic and older worldly depiction of figurative art, with another timeless SWRF print.
