Tea On The Lawn by Sherree Valentine Daines

'Tea On The Lawn' is another quaint, summery, limited edition artwork by Sherree Valentine Daines.

We see Sherree's depiction of afternoon tea on the grass at an English social calendar event; these in the know will probably know which event this is by looking at the man's jacket & hat he is holding.

This limited edition on canvas board has many interesting facets. Sherree's depiction of shadow and how she creates it is a marvel.

Notice the colour of the ladies' dresses with the use of white and greys to indicate sunshine & shadow and the flecks of white paint on the their heads, to represent glimmers of sun.

I could spend some time looking at just the grass & how the artist has painted it so uniform, textured & perhaps blowing in the wind; add to that: the flowers, tea pot and cups on the table, all sitting in situ perfectly on the canvas board.

Notice her very loose artistry in the background, flecks of dark green to light green, creating the effect of focusing us on the foreground.
